Bio:
Stephen Busath, 2021, Assistant Professor (tenure track), DMA (Percussion Performance
and Literature) -University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, MM (Percussion Performance
and Literature) - University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, BME - Brigham Young
University.
From 2014 to 2016 Dr. Busath served as the Director of Bands at Bonneville High School
in Idaho Falls, Idaho. While in this position he directed the symphonic band, percussion
ensembles, jazz band, pep band, and marching band. In his first year teaching, he
was awarded the Rookie Teacher of the Year Award for the Gem-State Music District
in Idaho.
He has instructed or directed the drumlines at Brigham Young University-Idaho, the
U of I Marching Illini Drumline, and for competitive drumlines in California, Idaho,
Nevada, Colorado, and Illinois. His principal teachers have included William Moersch,
Ricardo Flores, Joel Spencer, Dr. David Taylor, and Jay Lawrence.
In 2014, he became the Principal Percussionist for the Idaho Falls Symphony and the
Idaho Falls Opera Theatre where he performed until 2016.
